My Qualifications
BSc Humanistic Counselling First Class (Metanoia Institute) I trained at the Metanoia Institute in London, one of the leading counselling and psychotherapy institutions in the UK. The BSc Humanistic Counselling spans three years and is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, one of the UK professional association for counsellors, of which I am a registered member. Before becoming a counsellor I lectured in philosophy and I have a PhD in the subject. My philosophical training helps me reflect clearly, means I have a firm grip on counselling theory and sharpens my professional work. All of my work is supervised by a qualified supervisor as part of my commitment to practising ethically and to ensuring high standards. My sessions and supervision are both confidential. My Experience and Special Interests I have been a full-time counsellor for several years now. I am also a visiting therapist for a number of local residential homes for children. I am trained to help with a range of concerns including, but not restricted to, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, low mood, social, family and relationship issues. I have special interests in low self-esteem, loss and abuse (past, sexual, domestic, bullying etc.). I work with adults and children (aged 10+) and have a special interest in working with teenagers. I hold an enhanced DBS background check, available on request. I am an LGBTQ+ positive practitioner. |
